Hydrogel interface found in the blood
The structures in the body begin to network more and more
The above structure comes from a fresh blood sample.
There is clearly a skin-like thin hydrogel structure, which is connected to a hydrogel fiber via a triangular connecting piece.
So far, we have been able to find all three components individually, but have not yet been able to combine them into a complete structure.
The skin-like hydrogels, the fibers and also the triangles, which often function as biosensors.
After reviewing various scientific documentation, it is clear that this is an interfacial coupling between hydrogel layers and other hydrogel-based components.

You can clearly see a round cut-out in the center of the triangle.
The hydrogel interfaces described in the literature are not intended as isolated, self-sufficient units, but are explicitly designed so that they can be combined, extended or “further developed” with other hydrogel structures.
Although self-contained units do occur, they are rare.
This means that we only have a part of what can develop into larger networked structures in front of the lens.

The interface is then not an actual component but rather a zone.
Then there are the dynamic / reversible bonds
(e.g. hydrogen bonds, host-guest, ionic) Several hydrogel units can join together or be specifically separated, or completely recombined.

These interfaces are explicitly not self-sufficient, but “connectable”.
This special structure here with:
a flat hydrogel (“skin”)
a triangular interface
and a thread/fiber-like hydrogel (sensor)
This is almost always regarded in the literature as acontinuous, expandable hydrogel system and not as three separate components.
Why?
The triangle/wedge/gradient reduces stresses, improves diffusion and allows signal or force concentration
The fiber: is often a connector, not a terminal device
The film or skin-like structure acts as an interface to the environment, in this case to the tissue
This interface is therefore a “transition module” and not an isolated node.
I had stained the preparation with methylene blue and unfortunately destroyed it through carelessness.
The glass cover slipped completely off the slide. I thought I wouldn’t be able to find the spot again intact, but these artificial structures don’t break that quickly.
A triangular hydrogel interface never called it that directly, as the disciplines and specializations are separate.
Biologists call it an insertion zone, engineers call it a gradient interface and sensory scientists call it a functional junction.
But they all mean and build the same thing.
Simply calling this structure a component is not enough, it is more of a morphological logistics. It is modeled on the evolution of biology and is needed in modern soft robotics and transhumanism.
Why are these elements appearing right now?
