Unknown Passengers in the Blood
Cells that don't belong here
It seems to be peak season for foreign cell types in the blood. I’ve rarely seen blood this contaminated under the microscope as I have over the past week.
The sun is shining outside—it’s summer—and after a short walk, everyone comes back in with sore throats, completely tired and worn out.
This cell type comes from blood samples taken in northern Sweden, but it appears to be found everywhere. Below are the exact same cells from Maria Crisler’s image database in the U.S.
The contamination of all the blood samples that day revealed something even stranger - without words:
